Quarter 4, Week 1

Welcome back, parents! After a lovely spring break, our students have re-entered the classroom with positive attitudes and thirsty minds.  Both kindergartners and first graders are covering the element of Color this quarter; the first graders are delving deeper, however, then their younger counterparts. Kindergartners have begun to use a new medium (colored pencils) and have used their primary colors to make secondary colors, forming a color wheel.  They are learning the differences between primary and secondary colors and the importance of light in sensing color. First graders are building upon their kindergarten knowledge of color and learning how value (light/dark) interacts with color to create various shades.  They also have learned how primary and secondary colors can be mixed to create tertiary colors, which in turn can be combined with primary colors to create a fourth level of colors, etc. so that there are an infinite number of color combinations possible.
