Quarter 3, Week 7

Good evening parents,

Kindergartners are doing wonderfully in their apple projects inspired by Paul Cezanne's Apples and Oranges.  They are learning to use oil pastels effectively and are creating beautiful, colorful works.  Over the next two week, they will be working towards finishing that project, adding appropriate shadows and background.

First graders have mostly finished their projects inspired by Henri Matisse's Lemons on a Pewter Plate and are starting a project based on Seaweed by the same artist.  They are having a lot of fun tracing and coloring brightly colored kelp shapes, which they will later cut out and glue onto a master sheet, similar to the way Matisse himself created his project.

I'm very proud of the way our students are learning and applying what they learn to create such beautiful works.  I'm very much looking forward to seeing all their completed projects at the end of the quarter.

Have a great weekend!
